Our new holiday is in the Serra da Estrela Natural Park, the mountains of the stars, the highest mountain in mainland Portugal rising to 1993m. The Serra’s landscapes of pine forests, lakes and glacial valleys all enjoy clean, crisp, mountain air. The Natural Park is also the source of the Mondego, Zêzere and Alva rivers. Dramatic crags and ravines make this region stunningly beautiful and a pleasure to explore.

Our holiday is in central mainland Portugal “Serra da Estrela Natural Park”, home to Mt Torre the highest mountain in mainland Portugal rising to 1993m. The landscape, pine forests, lakes and glacial valleys all enjoy clean, crisp, mountain air.
Nature in its pure state that involves the Serra, always gives it a golden age of magnificence that enchanted generations of peoples and faiths. For these stops, between granite hills and vegetation, bloom three magnificent castles, Inescapable evidence of the historical importance of these lands in the struggles and battles of the Middle Ages.
Serra da Estrela offers dramatic crags and ravines witch makes this region stunningly beautiful and a pleasure to explore, and therefore offer huge rewards to the rambler in search of something special for the holidays. Sheep and goats play a traditional role in the manufacture of the famous Serra da Estrela cheese. The Serra da Estrela also has its own ancient breed of mountain sheep dog.
Find all the typical things of Serra da Estrela - Cheese of the Serra, woollen cloths, the kid-goat - or just the heritage of millenarian shepherd who were the parents and grandchildren of Viriato and have stood face legions, have farmed hillsides of rye and have planted vineyards and wines tasting.
