We will enjoy classic Fado evenings in the most typical quarters of Lisbon, where music and dinner combine in a beautiful symphony.
The Coimbra Fado is unique: only students or former students from the University of Coimbra can sing and play it, and those mostly males... because, traditionally, they serenaded the girls with love songs at midnight below their windows. Just like Romeo and Juliet. Wonderful!
According to tradition, to applaud Fado in Lisbon one would clap hands, while in Coimbra coughing, as if clearing one’s throat, is the typical way.
Portugal has a diverse musical culture - from the Celtic folk music of the north to the more Arabic sounds of the south. Fado however is the country's national musical treasure where the heart, soul & history of the people are woven together in a unique blend.

We visit the city's old quarters which come alive
with the sound of typical songs. Fado Houses, where
one can savour the excellent local cooking and
listen to the emotional music of Portugal, are

Lisbon, city of the seven hills teems with life as
the stylish open-air cafés, reflect their lights in
the calm waters of the River Tagus.
In Coimbra we will enjoy the more refined Fado
performed by the students of this beautiful city on
the banks of the river Mondego.

The walking and sightseeing programs are integral with each other. However because we have dedicated transport with the group there will be considerable flexibility within the program for individual clients.
